The Netezza Strategic Advisory Board is comprised of senior industry experts who provide guidance and feedback on Netezza's product plans and research initiatives.
Richard A. DeMillo, Distinguished Professor of Computing & Management, Georgia Institute of Technology
Rich DeMillo is the Distinguished Professor of Computing and Management at the Georgia Institute of Technology. From 2002-2009 he was the John P. Imlay Dean of Computing at Georgia Tech, returning to academia after a career as an executive in industry and government.
Prior to 2002, Rich was Chief Technology Officer for Hewlett-Packard (HP), where he had worldwide responsibility for technology and technology strategy. Before joining HP, he was Vice President and General Manager in charge of Information and Computer Sciences Research at Telcordia Technologies (formerly Bellcore), where he oversaw the development of many internet and web-based innovations. He has also directed the Computer and Computation Research Division of the National Science Foundation. During his twenty-year academic career, he has also held academic positions at Purdue University, The University of Wisconsin and the University of Padua (Italy).
The author of over 100 articles, books and patents, Rich's research has spanned computer science and includes fundamental innovation in computer security, software engineering and mathematics. He is a fellow of both the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the Association for Computing Machinery.
William C. Louv, CIO & Sr. Vice President, Information Technology, GlaxoSmithKline
Bill Louv was appointed to his position at GlaxoSmithKline in January 2007 and is a member of the Corporate Executive Team. He was previously Sr. Vice President, Information Technology for the company's Research & Development function.
Bill joined Glaxo Inc. in 1994 as Vice President of Medical Data Sciences, and has held a number of increasingly senior roles in R&D and IT, including Sr. Vice President, Information Technology for the company's US Pharmaceuticals business.
Prior to joining the company, Bill held positions of increasing responsibility at Marion Merrell Dow including Vice President of Global Statistics and Clinical Data Management. Prior to joining the pharmaceutical industry, he was an associate professor of epidemiology and biostatistics at the University of Alabama Medical Center.
Bill has held memberships in a variety of public health and statistical organizations and published articles in over 25 professional journals.
Peter Niculescu, Partner, Capital Market Risk Advisors
Peter Niculescu heads Fixed Income Advisory at CMRA, a risk management firm providing consulting and litigation support services to major US and international financial services companies and institutional investors. He has advised investment banks, institutional investors, insurance companies and commodities dealers.
Peter specializes in portfolio strategy, return attribution, options-based strategies, risk analysis, asset valuation and stress testing. His areas of expertise include options, structured and hedging products especially RMBS, CDOs and CLOs and other derivatives including interest rate products and credit default swaps. Prior to joining CMRA, Peter was at Fannie Mae, where he ran the Capital Markets division, responsible for acquisition of securities and loans on balance sheet and for their hedging and funding. He developed an extensive research group to support interest rate, prepayment and credit analysis of the mortgage-related assets and the debt and derivatives used to fund the portfolio. His group was responsible for all mortgage investing on balance sheet, including investing in MBS, loans, non-agency RMBS (including subprime, Alt-A, manufactured housing, and municipal housing bonds), and monoline wraps of RMBS and for all the credit analysis, surveillance and due diligence required for investment management.
During the 1990s, Peter was at Goldman Sachs where he was a Managing Director responsible for running Mortgage Research and at various times the global fixed income strategy effort. Mortgage Research developed industry-leading prepayment and credit research capabilities under Peter's leadership and provided consulting services and advice to a wide range of clients including mortgage servicers, institutional investors, insurance companies and commercial banks. As the head of mortgage research, Peter was responsible for risk reporting at a firm-wide level for all mortgage products, serving as an independent risk evaluator for desk positions.
Peter is a Director of Two Harbors Investment Corporation.
William G. Stangel
Bill Stangel is an experienced technology strategist and architect, having developed, influenced and implemented technology strategy, architecture and direction across global enterprises and unique business units. During his career, Bill has lead high-performing engineering teams, developed vendor engineering relationships, evaluated venture capital companies, assessed potential acquisition targets and delivered applications portfolios, bringing his unique perspective and background to bear in his advisory role at Netezza.
Bill spent the majority of his career to date with Fidelity Investments as Senior Vice President Strategy and Architecture, with his primary charter and accomplishment ensuring that his IT strategy aligned closely with the business strategy. This included the integration of WebServices, next generation technology trends and architectural vision throughout the enterprise.
Bill has been a featured speaker at industry conferences (Semantic Web, OASIS, RSA) and interviewed for many articles including Waters and the CNET Vision Series.
