"Netezza owns the entire stack: it puts hardware components together specifically to support data warehousing and it builds software specifically to exploit the features of hardware."

Putting the power of Netezza behind complex analytics

At Netezza, we believe it is important that our customers and partners put the power of our system to work as best suits the needs of their organization. Until now, many types of advanced or complex analytic processing were impossible within a database. These complex analytic problems, which could not be expressed in SQL, had to be solved outside the data warehouse, requiring large, time-consuming data extractions from the data warehouse. This approach works directly against the principal of minimizing data movement, and organizations pay the price: in the cost and complexity of a separate analytics server as well as analyses based on stale or incomplete data.

Netezza has "opened up" our patented streaming architecture so that developers can exploit the same massively parallel processing that we do for high-performance advanced analytics. This open interface has resulted in a wide variety of analytic capabilities – including Monte Carlo simulation, predictive model scoring, geospatial analytics, fuzzy text search and others – that provide a depth of analysis at a convenience level and performance capability simply not possible with traditional systems.
